The children of migrants, women in prostitution, destitute women, alcoholics, drug peddlers,
and other socially vulnerable groups are an integral part of our Street and Slum Children
Program, which falls under the category of Children in Need of Care and Protection since its
inception in 1998.
These children are enrolled in our Non-Formal Education Centers and the National Child
Labour Programme, where they are supported in their studies by dedicated, trained street
animators who build healthy relationships with them. Various awareness programs are also
conducted to promote their well-being.
Although the street is often an exploitative environment for children, our staff strive to
provide a family-like support system through their consistent and friendly presence. After
completing their non-formal education, the children are enrolled in mainstream schools and
provided with academic support to prevent dropouts.
Marialaya also emphasizes formal education through evening coaching classes, skill training,
and vocational education, ensuring the holistic development of every child.
